 6 chambees (with the rest in tow) cautiously entered Modestos’ Sri Hartamas on the night of 27th March 2009; the sound of crackshots filled our ears and the smell of competition was in the air. Yes, we had arrived at RDL’s first Quarterly Dinner of 2009 and our mission that night (should we choose to accept it) was to participate in a friendly pool competition between the Litigation and Corporate Departments of RDL.
After an inital practice run (and copious amounts of pre-dinner finger food consumption), the would-be pool champions of the night emerged and the teams were assembled. Over at the foosball table, a heated battle was already underway, as players dodged, blocked and scored goal after goal amidst roars of victory or groans of defeat.
A slight pause for good food and good conversation at dinner and then we were back in the game! Partners, LAs, chambees, seasoned ‘professionals’ and hesitant newbies – it was an eclectic mix of players and an enthusiastic hour and a half of pool-playing with the Litigation department emerging victorious when the dust finally settled, defeating Corporate with a score of 34-30 in the singles match and 30-16 in the doubles.
All in all, a very good start indeed to our first Quarterly Dinner of the year!
